A. Most importantly, consider two things (1) will you be able to advance your career in a meaningful way (new challenges, new learnings, opportunities for growth) and (2) will you be working for someone who will support you and your career aspirations (people underestimate the importance of having a manager that is invested in helping them succeed).
Take initiative. Drive growth, contribute to the culture, volunteer for something that helps your company advance, find something that needs fixing and just do it. Don’t wait to be asked. Mastering your role alone isn’t enough.
Who is Julie?
Julie is the Managing Director of Mirum, a global digital experience agency. She is responsible for cultivating growth and client satisfaction in Minneapolis where there are about 60 (and growing) wildly talented individuals who make up one amazing team. Julie is accountable for nurturing existing client relationships and new opportunities along with fostering a culture where Mirum can recruit, retain and grow exceptional talent.
Julie has spent her 20-year career at agencies, working across industries, channels and brands. What consistently motivates her is an unwavering commitment to driving success for her clients and team. With a palpable passion and enthusiasm for advancing women at work and in life, Julie is a regular contributor for [email protected], writing about the intersection of humanity and work. She recently sat on the Women in Digital panel at Sitecore Symposium and is moderating a panel at SXSW 2019 called, “Our own worst enemy. Why women keep each other down.”
