Martha Nevanen, VP of Marquette Real Estate Holdings (formerly United Properties), will share how she went about selecting her advertising agency of record, and how the agency responded to her needs to win [and keep] her business.

Martha Nevanen

Marketing and Communications
Current Responsibilities: Martha Nevanen joined Marquette Real Estate Holdings’ predecessor United Properties as director of communications in May 2002 and was promoted to vice president of marketing communications in 2005. She oversees the marketing communications efforts of NorthMarq Real Estate, NorthMarq Corporate Solutions, NorthMarq Capital and United Properties. Her almost 20 years of communications and marketing experience range from strategic planning, advertising, employee communications, marketing communications and media relations.
Past Experience: She came to Marquette Real Estate Holdings after six years at The St. Paul, where she spent two years in corporate communications and four years in the claim department, primarily focused on marketing communications strategy, agent communications and internal communications.
Martha also spent five years with Envirotest, a vehicle emissions testing company, leading the public relations and legislative communications efforts in five states, including Minnesota. Other prior experiences include working as a writer/editor for a small manufacturing company and a large paper mill. She was also a reporter and photographer for a daily newspaper.
Professional and Community Involvement: She serves on the Community Giving committee for Marquette Real Estate, the special event planning committee for CornerHouse, and is a past president and seven-year board member of the Minnesota Chapter of the International Association of Business Communicators.
Education: Martha earned her bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Missouri.
